Coming Home & 48 Hours in Nashville

My oh my, the past week has been absolutely CRAZY. I think I’ve only touched my computer twice since last Tuesday. My days have been so packed full and sleep deprived that I slept 10 hours last night, and if you knew my sleeping schedule, you’d know I get 6.5 – 7 MAX. I can’t even tell you the last time I slept 10 hours!

Beware of a long post ahead…

Last Wednesday, we caught our flight back home. Sometimes I hate the way the flights are set up. Going to or from Missoula, I have always flown into Denver, Salt Lake City, or Minneapolis, but this time we had to fly all the way over to Seattle to catch our flight back to St Louis.

Anyone else have a massive fear of flying? I’m not sure why I can’t really kick the fear.. Maybe it’s the fact that the first flight out of Missoula is always a two seater that sway and drops anytime you hit a stiff breeze 😨 For some reason I CANNOT handle turbulence at all and I immediately think the worst. Haha! The positive part of this flight was that they had complimentary wine and beer. I’m not much of a drinker, but I fully took advantage of this πŸ˜‚

Once we landed in Seattle, we found a Qdoba and ate supper at like 3 p.m. It’s so hard when you’re traveling, because our flight landed in St. Louis at 11:30 p.m. and we just wanted to catch our Uber head back to the hotel at that time. I tried to pack some snacks like protein bars, beef jerky, and trail mix, but that only gets you so far! Needless to say I was so hungry at bedtime!

I woke up the next morning and brewed some fresh coffee in the hotel bathroom😝 I know that sounds a little disgusting, and if you think that, I AGREE WITH YOU! It’s hard when you have a coffee addiction like mine, and you’re too lazy to walk down to the hotel lobby to get a cup. Plus, my Aeropress makes 10x better coffee than the hotel does. You gotta do what you gotta do!

Ryley’s parents picked us up around 10 a.m. and we made our way to Nashville. It’s about a 4 – 4.5 hr drive, but with we hit Nashville around rush hour and we didn’t make it to our hotel until 5 or so. We stayed in Brentwood, and if you have ever been there, you know just how nice this area is. I couldn’t believe how pristine everything is!

We were hungry, so we headed to supper at a place called Honeyfire BBQ It had so many good reviews, and definitely didn’t let us down. It was SO good! It’s a small restaurant located in a shopping center in the Bellevue area of Nashville. There were a ton of choices, but per usual, I ordered a salad with smoked chicken. I would definitely recommend this place! Everyone enjoyed their meal, and the service was great!

Right after that, everyone wanted something sweet, so we headed to a place called Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream. They had the cutest little shop with so many choices. I know there are a ton of locations, so you should definitely check this place out if you can! Ryley and I shared a 3 scoop cup with Salty Caramel, Coffee, and Milk Chocolate. They were super good!

Our Friday was filled with looking at apartments. We are in this place where we don’t really know where we want to be, or what we want to do. IT’S SO CONFUSING AND I HATE IT! We love Montana, but we feel the need to be closer to home. We don’t necessarily want to live in the same towns we grew up in, so we thought the Nashville could a be a healthy distance from home.

I didn’t realize just how expensive apartments were in Nashville. Montana is kind of the same thing though. We pay a good amount for a 2 bed/2 bath, but the walls are paper thin. I can hear the conversations up above us, and can hear every step they take. It’s so frustrating that Ryley and I can never have a peaceful day because it sounds like our ceiling is going to collapse!

I somehow got onto another topic… I’m sorry! Where I was trying to go with this was that even though we looked at apartments most of the day, we did some fun stuff too!

We looked at apartments for nearly 5 hours, and needed to grab some lunch after we were done. We decided to get more barbecue! I figured that was universally liked with the Smith crew, so we headed downtown to a place called Puckett’s. It’s a little bit of work to get to, but worth it! The inside of this place looks like an old grocery store, and the food is very affordable for barbecue. Most of us got the pulled pork, but I got a side of mashed sweet potatoes and broccoli. So good!!

After lunch, we made an obligatory walk down Broadway. For some reason, I’ve walked down it every time I’ve been to Nashville. This is definitely NOT my scene. I’m sure it’s fun to go to every once in a while, but it is SO congested and the music is SO loud (I have really sensitive ears for some reason 😫). I love country music, but there is just so much more to Nashville than walking down Music Row. There are always a number of people that are there, so others must really like it. I’m positive I’m not an ordinary person. Haha! I’d at least check it out if you are in the area.

Whenever I do walk down Broadway, I always check out a candy store called ‘Savannah’s Candy Kitchen.’ I don’t know why, but I love candy stores. This place has so many cool things! Ryley always has to buy a truffle and chocolate covered marshmallows when he visits these types of places.

Right before picking up our car at the garage, we visited one more candy place called Rocket Fizz. This place has a ton of vintage candy and soda. It’s a neat little place to walk around in!

After that we went to Green Hills Mall. This place will really make you feel like you need to make more money in life πŸ˜‚ This place had stores like Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and Tory Burch. Way too far above my current pay grade, but I loved looking around!

Saturday morning, we went to a Frothy Monkey for breakfast. I absolutely LOVE this place and have to go there whenever I’m in Nashville. They have the best gluten free bread! I ordered an omelet with toast and an iced americano. It didn’t let me down! They have so many choices for hot drinks and breakfast that you should really check it out if you’re in Nashville. The customer service is top-notch too!

Our last stop of the trip was the Opryland Hotel. This is such a cool place! You can sleep, shop, and listen to music all in one place! The hotel rooms make up the outer portion of the building, while the inside is filled with shops, restaurants, waterfalls, and plants. It’s so cool just to walk around and see everything. This hotel has nearly 3000 rooms in it, so you can imagine how huge it is! It’s completely free to go! I recommend parking in the mall parking lot that’s right next to the hotel, and walking the 0.3 miles it takes to get to the hotel entrance!

All of this is inside… How cool is that??
The flowers outside the hotel were beautiful!

When in Nashville, I didn’t get to stop by a lot of the usual places I like to go, so I’m hoping that if we’re there in the future I can do a Nashville guide for you guys!

After the hotel, we headed for home. It felt like such a long drive, but it was good to be back after being away for 4 months. I’ve spent the last two days visiting family and cuddling with the cutest white fluff ball. He kind of hates me for it, but I don’t care 😜 I need more dogs in my life!

Thank you guys for holding on while I’ve been away this past week! It’s been crazy! Thank you for stopping by. I hope you’ve had a great Tuesday!
